It is not a hard task to allow others to upload files to your Google Drive! You can try the following 3 ways to realize it: by Google Drive shared folder, Google Forms, and MultCloud Share.
I would like several people to add images and videos to my Google Drive. In order to process footage for clients, I have 4+ TB in my business account. Usually, I'm the only one using the account, but this time, I had more than 20 people taking photos and videos for me to process.
How can I let people upload their videos to my drive (using a link rather than an email invitation) and let Google Drive use my 4 TB?
- Question from Google Drive Help
This post will give 3 ways to let Google Drive allow others to upload: Google Drive shared folder, Google Forms, and MultCloud Share. All of them request files via a link. However, the Google Drive shared folder solution will use the uploader’s storage quota, not yours. Therefore, if you want others to upload with a link and the files count against your storage, choose from Google Forms and MultCloud Share.
The traditional ways to allow others to upload files to your Google Drive is using the Google Drive shared folder and Google Forms. Both ways are free to try and you can see the specific steps below.
Using the Google Drive shared folder is always the first way that comes to your mind. However, it is not the best one. If you do not have other demands but only want to collect files from other Google Drive users, you can follow these steps:
Step 1. Go to the Google Drive website and log in to your account.
Step 2. Choose a folder that you want others to upload to and right-click on it. Then, choose “Share” > “Share”.
Step 3. Give the “Editor” permission to the people who you want to upload files. Then, copy the shared link and send it to others.
Notes:
If you want to allow others to upload to Google Drive without a Google account and use your Google Drive storage, Google Forms will be a good tool. Moreover, they cannot see other’s files.
Step 1. Go to Google Forms and create a blank form.
Step 2. Extend the “Multiple choice” option and choose “File upload”. Then, read the notice and click “Continue”.
Step 3. Name the form and set the restrictions of numbers and file size of the uploading files if you need that.
Step 4. Click the “Publish” button in the upper-right corner to publish this form. Then, press the link-like icon in the upper task bar to copy the shared link.
If you want to add a password to your shared link, MultCloud Share can realize it. MultCloud is a cloud management service that supports 30+ clouds, including Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Workspace, Dropbox, OneDrive, and iCloud Drive.
Using MultCloud Share, you can share your cloud files with anyone. Even if they do not have the corresponding cloud account, they can open the link and download files from it. Besides, you can decide whether they can upload files to your folder.
Step 1. Go to MultCloud’s website and register a new account.
Step 2. Add Google Drive to MultCloud by clicking “Add Cloud” and the Google Drive logo.
Step 3. Open Google Drive on MultCloud and choose the folder where you want to save others’ files. Then, click the ”Share” > “Share with MultCloud” in the upper bar.
Step 4. Choose “Private Share” and copy the link and password to send to others.
Step 5. Go to the “Shares” page and switch on the “Allow to Upload” button. Then, others can download, upload, and save the files to their clouds.
