AnsweredHow to Recover Deleted Files from SharePoint

If an organization using Microsoft 365 stores files in the Document section of a SharePoint site, and then the files are deleted from the Document section and ALSO deleted from the Recycle Bin, is there any way to recover those documents? If not, is there a way to prevent items from being permanently deleted from the recycle bin? Thank you!

Hey, no worries! I will show you how do I recover a lost file in SharePoint in the following content:

  • Recycle Bin: Check the site's Recycle Bin first. Deleted items are usually stored there for a while.
  • Second-Stage Recycle Bin: If they're not in the Recycle Bin, check the Second-Stage Recycle Bin (if enabled). Deleted items from the Recycle Bin might be there.
  • Version History: If the files were edited before deletion, you might find them in the Version History of the document library.
  • Site Collection Recycle Bin: For site administrators, there's the Site Collection Recycle Bin, where deleted items from the Second-Stage Recycle Bin can be restored.

Remember, the options available may depend on your SharePoint setup and permissions. Good luck recovering your files!
