How to Clone Website with MultCloud?

MultCloud Website Clone allows you to transfer website files and database data from one website or database to another. It is designed for website migration, duplication, and other scenarios where you need to move website data to a new destination.

Before You Start

Before creating a clone task, make sure that:
1. The source website can be connected to MultCloud.
2. The destination website can be connected to MultCloud.
3. The source and destination databases are accessible when database transfer is required.
4. The destination has enough storage capacity.
5. You have the necessary permissions to access and modify the source and destination data.

How to Clone a Website

Step 1: Log in to your MultCloud account and go to Website Backup. Then select the Website Clone tab.

Step 2: Under From, click Add Website and add the website that contains the data you want to clone. Then add the destination website.
After adding, it will list all domains and related files under each domain.
Note: Website data and databases cannot be transferred between each other; data can only be transferred between websites or between databases.

Step 3: Click Clone Now to start the task.
You can click Task 7 to rename the clone task, making it easier to identify among other tasks.

Step 4: You can go to Task List to view the task progress.

To Configure Clone Settings

Before starting a clone task, you can configure additional options according to your needs.

Options

If the same data exists at the target location, select one of the following options:

• Skip the file.
• Overwrite if source newer.
• Overwrite if different size.
• Overwrite if different size or source newer.
• Always overwrite.
• Rename.

Select the appropriate option based on how you want to handle existing files at the target location.

Email Notification

Enable Send email notification when completing this task and enter an email address if you want to receive an email notification after the clone task is completed.
You can also click Send a test message first to verify the email address.

Filter

Use Filter to include or exclude specific file types from the clone.
For example, you can add a file extension such as .mp4 to exclude video files from the clone.

FAQ

1. Does Website Clone create a backup?
Website Clone is primarily designed to transfer data to another website or database. If you want to keep a backup copy in cloud storage, use Website Backup.

2. Will the source website be deleted after cloning?
Website Clone transfers data from the source to the destination. It does not mean that the source website will automatically be deleted. However, you should verify the task settings and destination before starting a transfer.
