Why do we need to sync Google Drive with Dropbox

Nowadays, many people use Google Drive and Dropbox for business because they love these tools and cloud drives. When it comes to simple file storage, both Google Drive and Dropbox work well. Some people prefer to use Google Documents to edit online. The good news is that it has been bundled up with Google Drive now. Dropbox is for file storage only, and doesn’t provide specific functionality for online editing. However, Google Drive also has its limitation. For example, offline file (especially Word) access for Google Drive is only supported in Google Chrome, which is not hugely flexible, or well implemented. So people keep them in Dropbox instead.

Now you see, there are reasons for realizing Google Drive Dropbox integration. A third party application named MultCloud is a great solution. With which, syncing Google Drive with Dropbox is possible.

The understanding of MultCloud

Steps of syncing Google Drive with Dropbox with MultCloud

First of all, you should add both Google Drive and Dropbox accounts in MultCloud. Then you can sync them easily. Let me show you the steps of adding Google Drive to MultCloud. Sign in MultCloud. Then select a cloud drive to add, in this tutorial, I will select Dropbox first, Google Drive later.

Select Dropbox to add

Clouds supported by MultCloud are: Box, Amazon S3, Amazon Cloud Drive, SugarSync, Alfresco, Hubic, Evernote, OneDrive, MEGA, CloudMe, Cubby, MyDrive, WEB.DE, Yandex, HiDrive, MySQL, Flickr, MediaFire, ownCloud, ADrive, BaiDu, WebDav and FTP/SFTP.

Here, you only need to type a display name. Then click “Add Dropbox Account” button to go to the next step, follow the instructions to authorize Dropbox connecting to MultCloud successfully.

Add Dropbox

From the above picture, we notice that when adding Dropbox account, we don’t need to enter username and password, because the authorization system of MultCloud is based on OAuth, which is a standard authorization framework that enables third party applications to access multiple cloud accounts without username and password required. Next, adding Google Drive account, the same as Dropbox, we don’t need to input username and password. And the adding steps are similar so that there’s no need to repeat here.

After adding these two accounts successfully, you are able to use Dropbox Google Drive together. And then sync Google Drive and Dropbox whenever you want or set daily, weekly, monthly. I said simple sync manually is moving/transferring the updated file from one cloud drive to another in MultCloud interface. Thus without downloading and reuploading, it saves lots of time. There are two ways, directly dragging or copying and “Copy to”.

“Copy” and “Copy to”

Switch to Cloud Sync Service, you can set syncing tasks with more options. One-way sync, Two-way sync. And there are 7 methods in One-way sync. Details please learn from here.

You can set scheduled file copy too. If you have not set scheduled this time, just clicked Sync Now. Don't worry, you are able to click and commit Sync again and again in the taks manager. By the way, in the task manager, it allows you to re-edit the task.

Besides backing up Google Drive to Dropbox, there are more operations with the cloud storage service that can be done within MultCloud. From Cloud Explorer screenshot, we can see these selections on the right-click context menu: create new folder, delete, rename, cut and share. Preview file and see properties. Please rest assured to use MultCoud to move, sync and backup data across Clouds.

What's more, MultCloud now has a Google Chrome app. If you are a user of Google Chrome browser, we highly suggest you install this extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/transfer-to-google-drived/dhkemmehlndncfkilljmpeacciajkfag. How to use it please visit here.
